Teach child to be home alone

teach your child how to be home aloneThere will be a day you must be away from home and leave your child alone. To make him not frightened, you can train him to cope with the above circumstance from now.

Instruct him to make use of familiar appliances in the house so that he can self manage without you nearby. Write down these instructions on a notepaper and stick it somewhere he can frequently see and easily memorize.

Teach him to use telephone and take note of messages when someone calls. Invent supposed emergency situations to train him to be familiar with talking over the telephone when he needs help.

Notice him when contact with strange people, he shouldn't invite even friends to the house but wait until parents return.

If he has brother or sister, instruct him not to argue on unimportant things and complain over telephone when unneeded. However, you should care to listen when he wants to share his worry or sadness.

Bear in your mind that however clever or smartly he behaves, he has to make mistakes sometimes. Thus, encourage him and consider mistakes as a way to learn more experience.

Show him your trust and be willing to reward generously if he is not nervous and do well assigned work when at home alone.
