The newborn shouldn't lie prone when sleeping
Children who are born prematurely often have a deep sleep when they lie prone. At that time, they easily have steps of pausing to their breath at once; this increases the risk of sudden death when children sleep.
This result insists on the importance of encouraging children to lie supine when sleeping, especially children are born prematurely; they naturally increase the risk of sudden death, leaving the special room for care.
Ph.D. Anne Greenough and his coworkers in Kinh University , England researched 24 newborn babies who are born after 24 after weeks. Before these babies leave the special room for care, they are followed during 3 hours at the posture of lying prone and 3 hours at the posture of lying supine.
The group follows babies' breath, breast motion, belly, arms and legs, breathing rate and oxy content in blood. Researches also rewrite the sleeping time and the times of pausing, waking and regain consciousness.
The result shows that children sleep longer when they lie prone, their bodies operate less and more quiet in the sleeping time. In the supine posture, children wake up and regain consciousness more. In addition, the step of pausing breath is less.
"The awaking in the sleep is an important reaction in the face of phenomenon which are dangerous to children's life, such as: the long pause of breath", the group Greenough shows "By awaking, the ventilation is increased and the reaction of behaviors is awaked. Any problem in the awaking action can also cause sudden death for newborn babies.
