The sleep of children who are at the age of 1-3 months

Now your child starts to stay awake longer in the daytime and sleep more at night in comparison with the time they were born. However, that is still possible because the operations of children are different.

The steps of children's sleep approach with you: sleep vaguely, rapid eyes move, light sleep, deep sleep, and very deep sleep. Your child starts to sleep overnight, but you should remember that the conception of sleep overnight in this time only strengthens about 5 hours.

Because your child is cleverer and recognizes the surrounding environment in the daytime, he/she will easily sleep at night, especially when you dominate to play and talk with him/her at night.

Your child will adjust with the sleeping and waking circle that his/her parents create, and her/his belly also develops more to contain a lot of milk. It means that he/she can sleep till 7-8 hours without waking because his/her hunger. For the baby who is at the age of 3 months old, if you feed and let her/him sleep at 10 p.m, you can sleep well till tomorrow. However, it's not true that every newborn baby has the same timetable.

There is nothing to feel strange when babies at this age often mistake between day and night. If you find that your child sleep too much while you want him/her wake up or vice versa, you need only encourage hi/her to wake up more in the daytime. For example, if you find that he/she feel satisfied to sleep till afternoon, please awake him/her some hours 1 times and play with him/her. Keep him/her excited in the daytime to lengthen the sleeping time at night. You should keep your child wake till 10-11 p.m if any, at that time his/her sleeping time will be lengthened in maximum.

If children wake up at night, please try to limit to operate as much as possible. Changing napkins for them or let them eat in the dark, don't play with them. They will begin to recognize that you aren't pleasant at night, so they will continue sleeping there are nothing to be done.

Simultaneously, you need always ensure your child's sleep safely. Don't put anything on her/his cage which can influence to the breath-even a cuddly toy falling into his/her face can cause complications. You should avoid something with binding rope or ribbon which ties round his/her neck and check something having acute angles. Please ensure that his/her cage always reach the standard of technical safety.

Doctors also advise to lay children to lie supine when sleeping instead of lying on their side or lying prone. The reason is that their breath will be jammed when they lie prone because it is difficult for them to wake themselves in order to move their head.

In order to create the habit to go to bed for children, you need practice them gradually. Letting them take a bath, reading a story and singing a lullaby will easily help them to sleep well and send a signal to finish a day. Please continue doing like that regularly, they will relate those activities with their sleep. To be better, lay them into the cage when they are sleepy but still awake. By that way, they will come to sleep by themselves.

Although this will be difficult at the first time, experts show that this is also the age that you can let children snivel some minutes when they wake up at night. Some children swish, cry prolongedly or shout when they try to enter their sleep back. Unless you worry that children are hungry or ill, please let them alone. In the long term, that will help them develop the skill themselves to come to sleep without your help.
