11 Misunderstandings about food
Many people worry that milk with long-term maintenance has strong preservative substance. In reality, this opinion is not entirely correct. Milk can be maintained properly in temperature conditions without using strong chemicals. The Russian nutritionist called Tachiana Tovbushenka says that in order to preserve milk, it should be boiled at 130 Celsius and frozen rapidly. This solution helps us to kill bacteria without losing vitamins. Ms Tovbushenka also corrects some popular misunderstandings about food as follows:
Boiling water kills germs : This thought is not totally correct. Boiling water cannot remove heavy metals, insecticides, herbicides, and other chemicals.
Canned foods are harmful to health : This idea is more correct in canned meat than tinned fish. Stewing fish for a long period makes its bone softer, which is the very useful source of calcium for the body.
Do not swim right after eating : The American Red Cross issued a document instructing rescue and warning that swimming right after eating causes stomach cramp or even death. But then, many athletes state that during the training course, they can have a long swim even right after eating.
Children should eat a lot of mushrooms : Mushrooms are usually suggested to dietary children. However, they are not good because the children's bodies do not produce enough necessary enzymes to deal with the quantity of vitamins in mushrooms.
Poisons can be removed after boiling mushrooms for several hours : In fact, people are deceived. In most of the cases, poisons from mushrooms still have strong resistance against temperature.
Alcohol can remove poisons from mushrooms : In contrast, alcohol increases the impact of poisons on the body.
Eating lettuce helps the body to be slender : It is true that there are no calories in lettuce. But we often eat lettuce with fatty sauce, which causes to gain weight.

Eating a lot of carrots makes eyes brighter : Carrots contain Beta carotene changing into vitamin A which is very necessary for maintaining eye functions. Yet, the substance is presented in animals' livers and is easily supplied from other foods. Thus, do not be too afraid of lack of vitamin A.
