Diagnose Amnesia/Alzheimer from one's outlook
A research group in Seattle found that one's physical fitness may unveil many things about his/her mental state in the future.
They said that there is a simple way to know whether one may have Amnesia or Alzheimer when getting old or not. It is based on the overall walking time, test of fist power, and the balance ability when one is standing stiff.
Research group of Doctor Eric Larson, Group Health director, has examined 2.288 people over 65 three times, each every 2 years.
When the research started in 1994, none of the participators had any sign of Amnesia or Alzheimer. 6 years later, 319 people had Amnesia with 221 cases of Alzheimer.
"We were surprised to learn that changes in physical fitness may lead to changes in mental status", said Larson.
According to the research group, the first sign of Amnesia appear to be the problems in walking and keeping balance. And weak fist power may be considered as the next sign of this risk in the older age.
In a previous report, the research team found that people who do exercise regularly have a lower risk of having Amnesia or Alzheimer in old age.
The new research showed a realizable solution: regular workout may prevent people from Amnesia or Alzheimer by improving and maintaining physical fitness.
