Losing a job at old age causes apoplexy
While the retirement is coming, losing a job may makes the elderly apoplexy or heart - attack as twice as usual. According to researchers of Yale University , it's about more than 4.000 old employees,of the ages from 51 to 61, reckoned up in 1992.
After 10 years, there were 23 serious heart - attacked and 13 apoplexy cases in the total of 582 job losing old employees, as reported. In reseachers' opinion, the main reason of those is stress.
Wiliam Gallo, the chief of researchers in this field, said:"To many people, Old employees' job losing makes them feel very stressful and causes a lot of implicit dangerous consequences for the health."
In the total of 202 serious heart - attacked and 140 apoplexy cases of the observed groups, including job losing employees, retirements, job halting employees and in - active employees.
Adding the other reasons such as diabetes, smoking, obesity and hypertension in the set of reasons of the group of job losing employees, the risk of them are 2.5% for heart - attacked and 2.4% for apoplexy, in the total.
Hugh Robertson, Health specialist of Trades Union Congress, considered: "In my opinion, those results do not cause not only by the old ages, but also by the following reason, that the most of them could hardly find an appropriate job at the age of 50 and their pensions are threatened".
