Money and Happiness
Poverty easily brings about misfortune. However, the latest research show when income is higher than 10.000 USD/ year there is remarkable correlation between money and happiness.
Nowadays, there is more much social psychological scientific research the notion of happiness, the correlation between happiness and money. The main reasons are drawn:
In Japan , between 1960 and 1980 GDP increase 5 times. Each family has more than a car and each individual spend near 1.000USD/year to travel. However, the research show pleasant feeling with life is fairly low. In South Korea , "other economic miracle ", is similar.
In USA , a research in 1950 is done by national public opinion researching center show 1/3 subjects affirm they feel very happy. Nowadays, When GDP increase twice this rate does not change. Diener, a psychologist at university of Illinois ( USA ) interview 400 richest people in USA compared to other normal people, happy feeling is a little higher.
Everyone also knows poverty create misfortune. However, the recent day research shows that when income is more than 10.000USD/year there is no remarkable correlation between money and happiness.
Why with much money in hands people do not feel happy. Maybe people spend mass of money to buy things that money can buy instead of focusing things bring satisfaction such as: developing emotion in relations, helping others, finding mental meaning in life.
Sociologist also finds other reason it is feeling of "worry" when compared with others. I can call it is imitation. Phenomenon of "worry" increase when distance of income increase. People in the same are has equal level of living is temporary satisfied. When there is richest class appear unsatisfied feeling increase due to trend of this level of happiness higher than people has same condition in USA .
Other paradox appears when sum of possessive money increase the unsatisfied feeling also increase due to desire never satisfying. Our ancestor said" the more you get the more you want".
Researchers conclude the frenzy of following money regardless of its real meaning in rich country created materialism and through them they indifferent receive misfortune for them and their family.
