The taboo statements in office
Never say that: "I am up to my ear in work". Although you are always busy and have to work overtime, you also need to be modest and polite and never dignify yourself. Sometimes, you do not mean that, but it may make the others misunderstand.
To get along well and have a good relationship in office, you need not only a good ability but also the communication skill. It shows your business capability, experience, qualification and moreover, it show who you are among your colleague and before your boss. These statements below are a taboo in office:
"I cannot do that."
Instead of saying "I don't know" or "I cannot do that", you had better try to improve your skill or look for some other solution. Being given a hard work, you should gently reply that "I am so pleased and proud to undertake this work. I think that I need more time (or staff, investment, train) to finish the project".
"You suspect (or query, judge) my method, don't you?"
Do not get nervous when you are questioned or challenged by your boss or colleagues. Try to be assertive and answer positively: "I highly appreciate your idea, but I strongly believe in my method".
"I will try your method, but do not complain if it is not efficient"
You do not need to follow your colleague's method, but you should try to look for some similar points or just some common things and say that "I do agree that we should vary the strategy, but I am still uncertain/ not sure about it, let's discuss more about."
"You never."
Avoid the statement such as "you never reply the email" or something like that because it show that he/ she is helpless. Those statements make you difficult to get along well with your colleagues in office.
