When having babies, every activities and work of women need special care. And traveling is not an exception. Pregnant women completely can visit everywhere, however everything must be prepared carefully
In the first three months of pregnancy, women are still well-formed, but they should not travel since the pregnancy has not been stable. In addition, signs of pregnancy considerably affect the trip. From the fourth month downwards is a suitable time for pregnant women to participate in traveling activities.
Although the traveling means is plane, car or train., using safe belt when on the vehicle is very important. The seat belt should be fastened tight enough to be comfortable. Do not tie the belt across your stomach. The belt with ensure safety for both mother and baby.
Do not sit still in one position for more than one hour. In case you have to take part in long trips, find ways to hold your legs up and down. It's best not to sit on the car more than six hours a day; and after each hour, walk around a bit. This will prevent the form of blood in the legs and pelvis. A pillow laid behind back or under knee is also very good for long journeys.
Don't forget to drink enough water and minerals. Pregnant women have to drink from 1.5 to 2 liters of water everyday when going on long travel. Remember to bring a bottle of water, especially in locations where the weather is dry and hot.
It's important to have enough food as it does not always come up to our expectation. You'd better bring along suitable food. Don't carry excessive baggage. In necessary circumstances, require for help. No one is not willing to help women, especially pregnant women.
In the place where you stay, you should know the names and locations of nearest hospitals, particularly where have obstetrical and gynecological service. The more information you have, the better.
Going by plane is always a safe choice for pregnant women. However, planes are not good choices for cases such as:
- Blood pressure increases during pregnancy.
- Increase in blood sugar or uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetes.
- Sickle-shaped red blood cell (the erythrocyte is breakable when in high places and low concentration of oxygen).
- Risk of premature birth and placental anomalies.
Nearly all health recommendations suggest that pregnant women can go on plane until the thirty- sixth and thirty-fifth week (for long-distance flight). Some airlines only accept pregnant women in some certain periods. Hence, you should check before booking tickets.
In the passenger hold, due to changes in moist and pressure, the heart rate is often fast and leads to increase in blood pressure or breathing difficulties. Cautions in this case is not unnecessary. However, do not go too far when the date of birth is going near (the last 2 or 3 weeks).
