About 2 weeks after the ovum has nested in the bed of the uterus, your body starts to change - hormonal changes occur earlier than can be shown in pregnant tests and even if doctors examine, they cannot affirm. Some changes are caused by embryo's and mother's hormone.
In the first 3 months, there may be other symptoms and signs:

Tiredness
Almost all new pregnant women feel tired. In the first several weeks, the body creates more blood to carry nutritive substance to embryo. Hence, the heart has to work more to adapt to the increase in blood provision. The body also change the way it uses water, carbohydrate and fat. The combination of all these deep changes can contribute to the tired feeling.
Vomit in the morning
Only uncomfortable states such as feeling sick or vomiting happen to many women in the first 12-14 weeks. The trouble tends to get more serious in the morning, yet several women feel sick in all day, especially when they haven't eaten - the stomach is empty.
It hardly makes women lose weight or dehydrate and the reason of vomiting in the morning is still a question, perhaps due to stomach-intestine reason or hormonal changes; it maybe get worse due to emotional stress and tiredness during pregnancy.
Urinate many times
The increase in the volume of uterus together with the increase in the functions of the kidney causes one to urinate many times. Sometimes one person can soil slightly due to sneezing, coughing or laughing. The reason is because the bigger uterus weighs down on the vesica.

Although the weight can increase by 10-12 kg throughout pregnancy but in one quarter the weight can increase by only 1 kg.
Uterus
If you are pregnant for the first time, the uterus volume is as big as a small pear. During pregnancy, the uterus enlarges to contain a full-term developed embryo.
Uterus' neck
When the uterus' neck begins to be soft, that's a signal for diagnosis of pregnancy.
The safety of pregnancy ultrasound scan has been investigated by many scientists, especially when there's a rumor that scanning can hurt embryo's hearing; in fact there hasn't been any reliable scientific proofs showing that scanning has bad effect on the embryo.
Unlike X-ray scan, ultrasound scan doesn't release harmful radioactive rays, it only releases high-frequency sound wave, when meeting body's structure it reflects on the screen to make pictures.
These sound waves have the frequency that cannot be heard by people's ears so aren't harmful to ear's hearing. Consequently you can feel at ease to meet a doctor to make a diagnosis even before 5-6 weeks.
Doctors often diagnose in from 18-20 weeks to know better about the development (growth) of the embryo, estimate the embryo's age and its overall health.
